Geistliches Lied - Johannes Brahms
There’s something truly magical about the final “Amen” of Brahms’ Geistliches Lied - a moment where every voice lifts together and the whole space seems to glow ✨🎶 Fun fact: Brahms wrote this as a double canon aged just 24, weaving complex craft into soaring beauty. Here’s a glimpse from our Remembrance concert, November 2025.

Ave Verum Corpus - William Byrd
Ave Verum Corpus - William Byrd 🎼 Performed April 2023. This year marked the 400th anniversary of the death of great 16th Century composer William Byrd. Being a Catholic work, this piece was initially shunned by English church musicians until its revival by Catholic choirs late in the nineteenth century. As religious tolerance increased, its popularity grew rapidly, and today it is a cherished part of both Catholic and Anglican choral worship.

Te Lucis Ante Terminum - John Pickard
✨ We are thrilled to welcome John Pickard as the new President of Bristol Chamber Choir! To mark this special occasion, a small group of our singers were excited to perform his beautiful piece ‘Te Lucis Ante Terminum’ at our recent Passiontide concert in 2025 - a serene and reflective setting of an ancient evening prayer 🙏 John’s composition weaves rich harmonies and gentle rhythms, creating a meditative atmosphere that aligns perfectly with the text's message of protection through the night. Performed by Elizabeth Gaunt, Grace Groleau, Amy Joyce, Phoebe McFerran, Charlie Michelmore, Kate Wells and Beth Whalley, we hope you enjoy this intimate rendition of his remarkable work! 🎼
