About the event

Bristol Chamber Choir returns to Christ Church with St Ewen, in the heart of Bristol, for a contemplative Spring concert of choral music for Lent and Passiontide this March. Set within this beautiful and intimate space, the programme offers a powerful musical journey through themes of penitence, sacrifice, compassion, and hope.

The programme spans centuries of choral music, from the medieval works of Hildegard von Bingen, whose Karitas habundat evokes a timeless spirituality, to the lush harmonies of the Renaissance, with pieces like Carlo Gesualdo’s O vos omnes. Also featured are contemporary works such as the serene Ubi caritas by Maurice Duruflé and the evocative Northern Lights by Ola Gjeilo. The emotionally powerful When David Heard by Thomas Tomkins completes a programme that reflects the rich emotional landscape of the Lenten season.

Whether you're drawn to the spiritual depth of these works, the timeless beauty of unaccompanied choral singing, or simply seeking a moment of quiet reflection in a busy world, this concert promises to be a profound and moving experience. Christ Church with St Ewen’s acoustics will enhance the reflective nature of the music, creating an ideal space for the audience to pause and immerse themselves in sound.

Buy tickets here on Eventbrite, via a choir member (to save on ticket fees!) or on the door.
