About the event

Ballets, canons, catches - no, we’re not talking about dance, clergymen or cricket, but about some of the many forms of part-song which will create a tapestry of sound at 3pm on 30 June in St Stephen’s Church, Bristol. To those three forms you can add glees, madrigals and more – all are grist to Bristol Chamber Choir’s musical mill. You don’t even need to know which is which (although Gordon Pullin will enjoy explaining the differences). Instead, you can just sit back and enjoy the variety of forms, styles, vintages and voices, the last ranging from duets through sextets to full choir. Whether your preference be for early music, Elizabethan madrigals, the compositions of Robert Pearsall (one of our founder members back in 1837), the eternal charms of Sullivan’s ‘The Long Day Closes’ or a tongue-in-cheek Mozartian travel guide from the 1960s; be it for lively rounds or mournful fugues… you’ll find it all here. Then, to celebrate the season, join us for a summery Pimm’s before you frolic your way home.
